Man accused of flashing laser pointer at planes leaving Midway, O'Hare

BERKELEY, Ill. — A suburban man was arrested after being accused of flashing a laser pointer at several planes leaving Midway and O'Hare.At around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, a pilot and a spotter with the Illinois State Police were participating in "Operation Safe Drive." While flying, the pair said they were targeted by a laser pointer from the ground.They used the aircraft camera and determined it was likely coming from a yard in the 1200 block of Sunnyside Drive in Berkeley. Crews investigating home explosion in Granite City, Illinois During the investigation, the Federal Aviation Administration told authorities "several" aircraft department O'Hare and Midway recently, including commercial flights, reported the same issue from that area.Saul Martinez Castanon, 36, was arrested at his residence. Two men and a dog died late Sunday night when they were hit by a pickup truck driven by an unlicensed teenager in Riverside, according to police.The crash was reported at 11:48 p.m., near the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Challen Avenue.According to the Riverside Police Department, the 17-year-old driver of a 2011 GMC truck lost control and jumped the curb going southbound on Van Buren where the two men and the dog were walking.The truck also slammed into a traffic signal.The men were declared dead at the scene while the driver of the truck, a 17-year-old boy from Perris, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.Two people were killed when they were hit by a pickup truck in Riverside on June 25, 2023. A man was arrested after allegedly throwing lighter fluid on a Thousand Oaks restaurant worker and chasing him through the business with a knife before attacking another man with the liquid, officials said Monday.The incident occurred around 2:05 p.m. Sunday at a restaurant in the 400 block of East Avenida De Los Arboles, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.An initial investigation revealed that a man, later identified as Robert Haight, 61, entered the business, allegedly squirted lighter fluid on an employee and tried to set him on fire in the unprovoked attack, officials said.Haight then grabbed a large kitchen knife and chased the worker through the businesses before the victim ran out through the back.Haight followed the worker to the parking lot where a second person tried to intervene.“Haight then turned his attention to the second victim and assaulted him, by squirting lighter fluid on him,” officials detailed.The second victim was able to defend himself and foug...Taco Bell partners with Paris Hilton on new advice phone line

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for additional victims of a man they classified as a "serial" domestic and sexual assailant.Terrance Hawkins, 41, was arrested in downtown Los Angeles in April and booked on a no-bail warrant for "multiple counts of forcible rape, intimate partner violence, and stalking," police said in a news release.Hawkins, an Angeleno, "has a long history of briefly dating women, abusing them, and filming them during sexual intercourse," police added.He is being held at Men's Central Jail and is due to appear in Los Angeles Municipal Court on July 24, according to jail records. HAYWARD — An armored truck guard was robbed at gunpoint on Monday morning, authorities said.No one was reported injured.The robbery happened about 8:55 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of A Street.Authorities said a Brinks Armored Transportation guard was robbed outside the truck of an undisclosed amount of cash.Police have not said if the guard had made a pick-up of money from a business in the area or was taking money to a business.At least one armed suspect was involved in the robbery.The robber was gone before police could respond to the scene. (KRON) -- A Waymo vehicle blocked a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency bus at an intersection in San Francisco, and video of the incident was shared to Reddit on Sunday afternoon.
